School Arrival Procedures
  • If your child attends the YMCA Program: He/she will enter through the cafeteria door only. The YMCA Program is open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • If your child attends breakfast: They will enter through the cafeteria door only. Breakfast is open from 8:25 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.
  • If your child is a walker: They will not be allowed to enter the building until 8:45 a.m. through the main entrance of the building. The only exceptions would be if they attend breakfast of the YMCA program. Then they would enter the cafeteria door at the times outlined in this section.
  • If your child DOES NOT attend breakfast, the YMCA Program, is not a walker, and doesn’t ride the bus to school: This means that they are coming by car. Cars must wait in the morning car line (extends down Connecticut Avenue and enters the property at the mouth of the driveway; Please do NOT block our neighbors driveways) until the car line begins moving. Cars will be directed by a staff member when it is time to begin entering the driveway. When you are the lead car, you must always pull all the way down to the large orange traffic cone. Please remain in your car at all times and remain in the car line until the car in front of you exits the driveway. Passing cars that are letting students off creates a very unsafe situation for all involved. Car line will begin no earlier that 8:45a.m. You can contact the YMCA for childcare if needed at: 413-499-7650.
  • If your child arrives by bus: They will line up in front of the building (if the bus arrives before 8:45) and enter the main entrance at 8:45am. In the case of inclement weather, students will line up in the hallway of the main office until 8:45 a.m. The only exceptions would be if they attend breakfast or the YMCA Program.

Caution

PLEASE DO NOT park on the street and walk to the front of the building to walk your child to the school. The car line is meant for children who have cars that will be driving to the front of the building. This slows the car line down and creates an unsafe situation for our students. Please wait in line on Connecticut Avenue and drive to the front of the building if you come to school in a car at arrival time.

School Pickup Procedures

Car Line Pickup

If you are going to be picking up your child at the end of each day, you must park down Connecticut Avenue, leading up to the top of our driveway and utilize the car line. We have crafted a car pickup routine that is both safe and efficient. We ask that you remain in your car at all times, as there will be staff members available to assist your child as they enter the vehicle. Additionally, please remain in the car line (do not pass cars in front of you) until the car in front of you exits the driveway.

PLEASE DO NOT park on the street and walk to the front of the building to walk your child to the car. The car line is meant for children who have cars that will be driving to the front of the building. Parking on side streets and walking to meet your child, creates an unsafe situation for our students. Please wait in line on Connecticut Avenue and drive to the front of the building if you come to school in a car at dismissal time.
